I haven't been playing for long, but I just won a game by November, year 3. Does that happen often? I see games lasting for 5-10 years. Anyone faster than me?

Congrats to such a fast game.
It depends on the map (Highspeed, Desert, Steam, Toyland or Arctic). Usually Steam and Highspeed are the fastest games.

Games shorter then 4 years happen from time to time when the industry allows a very good start.

Tell us about your win. What did you do? On what map? Which train, and what length of track did you chose for the start? How did you evolve from your first line?

Providing such infos will make the game more interesting and exciting and new players wont say: "Wtf, how did he do it?"
Imho: Even if new players now good strategies and some "secrets" they need a lot of experience to get that good... so feel free to share your knowledge.

Didn't do anything revolutionary. I got lucky with two Battery sources from the start. As soon as I could afford it, I added to plastic sources, on the same tracks. To top up the luck I had, I was able to send the Toys back the same tracks to a toy store. Was a really quick and funny game :)
